煤矸石矿业固体废物的一种,洗煤厂的洗矸、煤炭生产中的手选矸、半煤巷和岩巷掘进中排出的煤和岩石以及和煤矸石一起堆放的煤系之外的白矸等的混合物。煤矸石发热量一般为800~1500卡/克,其无机成分主要是硅、铝、钙、镁、铁的氧化物和某些稀有金属。其化学成分组成的百分率:SiO2为 52~65;Al2O3为 16~36;Fe2O3为 2.28~14.63;CaO为0.42~2.32;MgO为0.44~2.41;TiO2为0.90~4;P2O5为0.007~0.24;K2O+Na2O为1.45~3.9;V2O5为0.008~0.03。煤矸石弃置不用,占用大片土地。煤矸石中的硫化物逸出或浸出会污染大气、农田和水体。矸石山还会自燃发生火灾,或在雨季崩塌,淤塞河流造成灾害。中国积存煤矸石达 10亿吨以上,每年还将排出煤矸石1亿吨。为了消除污染,自60年代起,很多国家开始重视煤矸石的处理和利用。利用途径有以下几种:①回收煤炭和黄铁矿:通过简易工艺,从煤矸石中洗选出好煤,通过筛选从中选出劣质煤,同时拣出黄铁矿。或从选煤用的跳汰机──平面摇床流程中回收黄铁矿、洗混煤和中煤。回收的煤炭可作动力锅炉的燃料,洗矸可作建筑材料,黄铁矿可作化工原料。②用于发电:主要用洗中煤和洗矸混烧发电。中国已用沸腾炉燃烧洗中煤和洗矸的混合物(发热量每公斤约2000大卡)发电。炉渣可生产炉渣砖和炉渣水泥。日本有10多座这种电厂;所用中煤和矸石的混合物,一般每公斤发热量为3500大卡;火力不足时,用重油助燃。德意志联邦共和国和荷兰把煤矿自用电厂和选煤厂建在一起,以利用中煤、煤泥和煤矸石发电。③制造建筑材料:代替粘土作为制砖原料,可以少挖良田。烧砖时,利用煤矸石本身的可燃物,可以节约煤炭。煤矸石可以部分或全部代替粘土组分生产普通水泥。自燃或人工燃烧过的煤矸石,具有一定活性,可作为水泥的活性混合材料,生产普通硅酸盐水泥(掺量小于20%)、火山灰质水泥(掺量20~50%)和少熟料水泥(掺量大于50%)。还可直接与石灰、石膏以适当的配比,磨成无熟料水泥,可作为胶结料,以沸腾炉渣作骨料或以石子、沸腾炉渣作粗细骨料制成混凝土砌块或混凝土空心砌块等建筑材料。英国、比利时等国有专用煤矸石代替硅质原料生产水泥的工厂。煤矸石可用来烧结轻骨料。日本于1964年用煤矸石作主要原料制造轻骨料,用于建造高层楼房,建筑物重量减轻20%。④提取化工产品:含铝量高、含铁量低的煤矸石经焙烧或在沸腾炉中燃烧,可使没有化学活性的高岭土(Al2O3·2 SiO2·2H2O)转变成具有相当化学活性的煅烧高岭土(Al2O3·2SiO2),其中的Al2O3易于与酸起反应。用硫酸浸取可得硫酸铝[Al2(SO4)3];用盐酸浸取可得结晶氯化铝。浸取后的残渣,主要为二氧化硅,可作生产橡胶填充料和湿法生产水玻璃的原料。剩余母液内所含的稀有元素(如锗、镓、钒、铀等),视含量决定其提取价值。此外,煤矸石还可用于生产低热值煤气,制造陶瓷,制作土壤改良剂,或用于铺路、井下充填、地面充填造地。在自燃后的矸石山上也可种草造林,美化环境。
