通货膨胀的国际传播指在开放经济条件下，通货膨胀通过各种国际经济联系在国家间传递。通货膨胀得以从一国传至另一国,是以固定汇率为条件的，其传播机制主要基于下列四种效应。价格效应通过国际贸易产品价格的变动及各种产品价格的相互影响，通货膨胀得以在国际间传播。在无关税和汇率固定的前提下，商品价格在各国市场上趋向一致，各国商品价格的相互影响，使一国国内的通货膨胀率趋向于同世界通货膨胀率相等。但是,在现实中,即使在无关税和汇率固定条件下，由于世界各国非贸易产品价格及国内经济因素各不相同，即使一国的通货膨胀通过价格效应可能诱发他国通货膨胀，其通货膨胀率并不必然一致。需求效应一国出现过度需求，会使其他国家受到影响，从而使通货膨胀在国际间传播。凯恩斯学派的开放经济乘数模型对这个过程作了分析。即在固定汇率条件下，一国总需求的增长扩大了其他国家对该国的出口，从而使其他国家的需求扩大，并由此产生了一个扩张性的收入乘数。如果所有的国家都已接近充分就业状态,它们就将试图把需求转向另一国产品。这样，过度需求就从一国传递到另一国，从而每一国都存在着需求膨胀的压力。流动效应一国国际收支差额的变动会影响国内货币供应量，并进而影响国内的货币收入，通货膨胀可能因此而产生。就是说，通货膨胀在国际间传递，既与国际贸易有关，又与国际资本流动有关，而国际收支差额的变动正是上述两者变动的综合结果。一国的过度需求可以通过国际收支逆差或顺差向别国传递。在一个封闭的经济体系中，货币供应过多而形成的需求膨胀，只会引起本国价格总水平上涨。而在一个开放经济体系中,国与国之间货币可以自由兑换与流动，因此，通过国际收支差额的变动，导致资本流入或流出，一国的过度货币供应和过度需求可能向他国转移。这种流动效应一旦出现，就会在国际间传递通货膨胀。国际通货膨胀预期和"示范"效应当国际市场或他国出现通货膨胀时,人们会预测国内价格也将上涨。这种通货膨胀预期会改变家庭和企业的微观经济决策，可能造成国内价格波动。这就是他国的通货膨胀对本国的预期效应。示范效应就是他国某些情况对本国人们心理发生影响。例如，他国工会通过谈判提高了工资，就可能对本国工会产生"示范"作用，促使本国工会也同资方讨价还价，向先行提高工资的国家"看齐"。这种行为也可能导致通货膨胀。以上四种效应均以固定汇率为前提。如果各国均实行完全的浮动汇率，通货膨胀就难以从一国传递到另一国。然而，只要某些国家实行某种程度的汇率控制，上述四种效应就会在一定程度上发挥作用。
