灰叶剑麻龙舌兰科(Agavaceae) 龙舌兰属多年生草本。叶纤维作物。从叶子获得的纤维又称墨西哥马盖、汉尼昆。原产墨西哥尤卡坦半岛, 现中美洲古巴、 哥斯达黎加、危地马拉、洪都拉斯等国家都有分布。主产国为墨西哥。20世纪50年代引入中国海南省,现海南、广东、广西和福建等地有少量种植。叶片疏生,狭长,肉质,长 100~180厘米,宽8~14厘米,灰绿色,叶面多蜡粉,边缘有刺;圆锥花序,轴高5~7米,花灰绿色,花蕾较短,长约5厘米,花梗短,萼筒与裂片等长,花气味不良。体细胞染色体数为140(基数30),属非整倍的五倍体,杂交后代不育。植株耐寒力较强,并耐旱、耐瘠,能在荒漠地区生长,适宜生长于年平均气温26℃(上限40℃,下限10.5℃)、年降水量750~1250毫米的环境;在珊瑚岩风化石灰性红壤、火山灰和滨海沙壤上生长良好。抗病虫能力也强。栽培技术与剑麻基本相同。用珠芽或吸芽作繁殖材料。田间管理较粗放。定植后5~6年开始割叶,约6个月收割1次。单株年长叶20~30片,纤维率4%左右。生命周期15~30年,产叶270~330片。纤维洁白,有光泽,束纤维长120~150厘米,拉力强度为50~60千克,主要用于制绳索、地毡、麻布、麻袋等。叶汁含海柯吉宁等多种皂苷元,可制药。育种上可用作杂交亲本。
