大兴安岭大兴安岭位于中国内蒙古自治区东北部和黑龙江省北部。北起黑龙江南岸，南止西拉木伦河上游。东北-西南走向。长约1200千米，海拔1100～1400米。山体属古生代褶皱带，中生代又发生强烈活动，有大量花岗岩侵入及火山岩喷出。第三纪末期的地壳运动使大兴安岭沿东侧的走向断层掀升翘起，造成东西两坡的斜度不对称。东坡以较陡的梯级向松辽平原降落，西坡则缓慢地向内蒙古高原倾斜。第四纪初期的构造运动又引起火山喷发。在阿尔山附近，绰尔河中游发现有44座火山。大兴安岭经过长期风化侵蚀，山顶浑圆，无明显高大山峰，其中黄岗梁2029米，太平岭1712米，巴伐艾来1540米，大光顶子山1455米。大兴安岭是重要的气候分界线。山地北段属寒温带，1月均温－30℃以下，北纬47°～48°以北有多年冻土带，冻土厚度在5～20米左右，有的达50～100米。大兴安岭北部生长着茂密的森林，主要树种有兴安落叶松、樟子松、红皮云杉、白桦、蒙古栎、山杨等。林带北宽南窄，面积约166.67万公顷，森林覆盖率约62％，是中国最大的原始林区。有多条铁路伸入林区。大兴安岭的南段位置偏向内陆，气候干旱，森林只分布于阴坡，树种以蒙古栎、山杨、桦树为主，阳坡以草类、山杏为主。珍稀动物资源丰富，盛产毛皮兽等。大兴安岭自古以产金著称。在南段霍林河流域已发现大型煤矿。
