合生合生中国宋代说唱伎艺。又称合笙。有两种表演形式:①女艺人在士大夫席间应命而指物题咏,内容滑稽含讽者,谓之乔合生。②在勾栏瓦舍表演的合生与起令、随令相似,各占一事,互不连属,类似传统相声中的四字联音,如起令者说:“檐前一燕,檐下生炭,炭着生烟,烟淹燕眼。”随令者则说:“一领细席,席上有泥,溪边去洗,溪洗细席。”这本是文人酒席间雅而近谑的文字游戏。宋代的合生又称为唱题目。后在宋金杂剧中衍变为题目院本。此外,合生与乔合生的曲调为诸宫调和宋元南戏中采用,促进了它们的发展。
