梯度折射率透镜又称变折射率透镜或非均匀介质透镜，通常简称梯析(GRIN)透镜。这是使用具有梯度折射率的介质设计和制造的光学成像元件。可制作梯折透镜的梯折材料可分：①轴向梯度。折射率沿轴向变化，等折射率面是垂直于光轴的平行平面系。一个具有轴向梯度的球面元件等效于一个均匀介质的非球面透镜。②径向梯度。折射率沿径向变化，等折射率面是中心轴对称的圆柱面系。其中圆柱端面垂直于轴者称伍德透镜，1905年由R.W.伍德制得，其作用如同会聚(发散)透镜。用正一倍放大率的伍德透镜组成的阵列，已用作商品化的光学复印机的光学组件，它大大缩小了复印机的体积，也提高了光照的均匀性。③层状梯度。折射率沿垂直于含光轴的某一平面变化,等折射率面是平行于光轴的平面系,其梯度平板具有类似柱面透镜的作用，光束在梯度方向上具有会聚（发散）作用。若折射率二次方作线性变化，则具有类似棱镜的作用。④球梯度。折射率按离定点的距离变化，等折射率面为中心点对称的球面系。大气层近似这种梯度；1854年提出的麦克斯韦鱼眼和1944年提出的卢内堡透镜皆属此类。前者是一个理想成像的绝对仪器，后者由于能宽角度扫描而用于徽波天线方面。此外，还有等折射率面为抛物面系的抛物线梯度、等折射率面是中心轴对称的圆锥面系的锥状梯度等。昆虫眼睛就近似于抛物线梯度的情形。梯度元件因形小体轻，结构简单，可用作皮下组织显徽镜、内窥镜、摄影物镜、施密特校正板等光学元件，尤宜于用作航天、弹载仪器的光学组件。梯折透镜自1969年用离子扩散技术制出自聚焦元件以来，各种制作技术陆续产生，为梯折透镜设计和制造提供了各种材料，随着制造技术的改进，其前景令人鼓舞。
