同一认定刑事技术鉴定中运用一定的科学技术手段，以确定受审查的嫌疑客体（人或物）同犯罪事件中正在寻找的那个客体（人或物）是否同为一人或同为一物，或来源于同一个人或同一个物。这种鉴定的原理和方法称为同一认定。通常用于痕迹检验、笔迹检验和人相照片鉴定。同一认定指检验客体物是否同一的过程，并非检验的结果。同一认定的结果可能得到肯定的或者否定的两种结论。肯定结论称为"同一"，否定结论则为"不同一"。司法实践中，进行同一认定之所以可能，是因为受检验的客体物具有特定性和相对稳定性。凡有体物乃至一切物，都是特定的。这种特定性就是此物和其他任何物的绝对区别。所以物只能自身和自身同一。而一切物，包括有体物，从辩证唯物主义的观点看来，都是不断运动变化着的，但一切处于运动变化发展中的物，尤其是有体物，都有其相对静止、暂时平衡和稳定的状态，稳定性就是物的重要特性在一定时间内保持不变。所以要认定绝对的同一(a=a)虽然是不可能的,但在一定条件下，一定时间内，对处于相对稳定状态中的管体物认定其为同一，则是可能的。在司法鉴定实践中，进行同一认定的条件是：①受检验客体的稳定程度。客体的稳定性愈大，则进行同一认定的可能性愈大。②客体特征显示出来的完备程度。客体特征反映得愈充分愈完备，则进行同一认定的可能性愈大。③反映客体特性的物质形象发生变化的程度。变化愈小，则进行同一认定的可能性愈大。因此，在侦查和勘验中，应尽力采取措施，保全这个客体对同一认定有重大意义的特征，并注意保持稳定性小的客体的稳定性；检验工作应尽可能在接近发现同一认定客体的时刻进行。作为犯罪侦查学鉴定主要理论基础的同一认定，所要解决的物的"同一性"问题，和哲学认识论中的"同一性"不同。哲学中的同一性，研究事物的范畴，涉及两个以上事物之间的关系，所要解决的是事物的共性问题；而同一认定所提及的同一性，是物自身与自身之间的关系，所要解决的是物的特性，即个性问题。认定同一，指客体自身和自身的同一，表现在客体的主要特性（通过特征表现）自己和自己相符合。这称为"特定同一"。但有时限于条件，只能认定"种类同一"。种类同一只说明两者相似，不能说明两者同为一物。"同一"与"相似"有严格的区别。刑事鉴定实践中，只有认定为特定同一，才能确定受审查的嫌疑客体与犯罪事件之间的联系。种类同一的肯定结论，只能缩小侦查范围，提供调查方法。种类同一的否定结论，可据以排除嫌疑。同一认定作为一种审查物证的原理和方法，侦查、审判人员在勘验中都可以运用，但只有鉴定人运用同一认定理论和方法作出的结论，才称为鉴定结论，具有证据效力。
