华南热带农业大学附属中学（以下简称为附中），又名两院附中，位于海南省儋州市宝岛新村的东面，校园环境优美，教学设施齐全，是广大师生治学求知的理想学校。1958年，华南热带作物研究所从广州迁到海南省儋州市的联昌，为了解决职工子女的上学问题，办起了小学部，随后所部中心移至现在的宝岛新村。小学也随之迁出。1960年，在附中现在的校址，以小学为主体，办起了第一届初中，从此开始了附中的发展历程。 1969年，附中创办了第一届高中，学校的规模越来越大。 1995年，附中由原来的科级单位升格为副处级单位，附小并入附中，成为附中小学部。此时，附中已是一所较具规模的完全中学。经过40年的建设，附中从60年代初的茅草搭建的几间课室发展到现在已是具有办公区、教学区、生活区、运动区和劳动基地的中等规模的完全中学。 校内医疗、卫生、消防 、供水、供电 等设备设施完善，有校园电话网络，安装电话131门，做到办公室、宿舍直通电话。学校学生宿舍采用封闭式管理，宿舍建筑面积3434平方米。学生食堂功能齐全，设施完备，卫生达标。校园整洁优美，绿化面积23668平方米，绿化覆盖率达95%以上，生均绿地面积达20.44平方米。附中占地面积72670平方米，生均占地62.67平方米；校舍建筑面积13200平方米，生均11.4米。附中现有四栋教学楼，一栋科学楼，一座体育馆，一座标准田径运动场。学校建有公用多媒体电教室2间、物理实验室4间、生物多媒体实验室2间、化学实验室2间、电脑教学室2间、语音实验室1间、无线发射台、生物园地、地理园地。此外，还拥有教室环路信号系统、计算机局域网和藏书近三万册的图书室。办学条件十分优越。附中现有学生人数约两千人。其中，中学部有二十五个教学班，学生1158人；小学部有十八个教学班，近700人。 教职工人数为122人。其中，中学高级教师15人；中学一级教师35人， 高中级教师占教师总数的78.1%，其余均为大专以上学历。附中把"严教、勤学、求实、创新"作为校训，提出了"质量兴校，素质兴校"的口号，并于于2000年10月成立了华南热带农业大学附中教育科学研究室，掌握最新教研动态，研究教学理论、教学改革的动向，为教学服务。在广大师生的共同努力下，附中的教学质量逐年提高。近三年来，附中秉着"质量兴校"的宗旨，抓好教育教学工作，学校的教育教学质量得到了提高。学生的德、智、体、美、劳各方面能力都得到了发展。近三年高中毕业会考全科合格率平均为73.2%，其中99届为65.7%，超过27所省市重点中学中的9所，2000届为 74.38%，超过10所，2001届为79.5%，超过11所。近 三年的会考优良率平均为35.2%，高中毕业率98%。 高考入围率、录取率在儋州市一直名列前茅，1998年录取率为 50.79%，1999年录取率为58.8%，2000年录取率为77.9%。学生参加省级以上学科竞赛取得较好的名次。在海南省近两百所完全中学高中毕业会考中，附中的成绩名列第20位上下，高考升学率都保持在百分之六十左右，自1977年恢复高考以来，从附中考上大中专院校的学生有1568人，其中，清华大学3名，北京大学3名。中国人民大学、复旦大学、中国科技大学、中山大学等一大批全国重点大学，都有附中学生的足迹，附中的教学质量已跻于省市重点中学行列。全面贯彻党的教育方针， 实施素质教育，使学生德、智、体、美、劳全面发展，是附中办学的宗旨。附中正以崭新的面貌在新的世纪创造新的辉煌。
