瓦斯瓦斯minegas植物在成煤过程中生成的大量气体。又称煤层气。大致可分为可燃烧和爆炸的气体、具有窒息性的气体和具有毒性的气体3种。煤矿中的瓦斯往往单指甲烷(CH4),是无色、无味,能燃烧和爆炸的气体。地下采矿时,瓦斯往往由煤层或岩层内涌出,污染矿内空气,当其在空气中的浓度超过55%时,能使人很快窒息死亡,是煤矿生产中的主要危害因素。瓦斯与空气混合,在高温下急剧氧化,并产生强烈的冲击波,即瓦斯爆炸。甲烷的燃点为650~750℃,矿井下的明火、吸燃的香烟,煤炭自燃、爆破、电火花、电弧、赤热的金属表面接触,甚至撞击或摩擦产生的火花,都会点燃瓦斯,发生爆炸。瓦斯爆炸产生的瞬间温度可达1850~2650℃,压力可达初压的9倍,爆源附近气体以每秒几百米以上的速度向外冲击,使人员伤亡,巷道和器材设施毁坏。防止瓦斯集聚的基本方法是以足够的风量将瓦斯冲淡,排出地面,但矿井瓦斯涌出量很大时,单靠通风难以降低浓度排除,可用抽放的方法,排除瓦斯,减少通风负担。抽出的甲烷可做工业、民用燃料和化工原料,如抽出的瓦斯数量较小或很不稳定,也可直接排放到大气中。预防瓦斯爆炸的主要措施有:用矿井通风和控制瓦斯涌出等方法,防止瓦斯浓度超过规定范围;控制火源,杜绝非生产需要的火源,如吸烟、火柴、明火照明等。对生产中不可避免的高温热源,采用专门措施严加控制,如只准使用特制的矿用安全炸药和电气设备,加强井下火区管理,禁止在井下拆开矿灯等;定期或自动连续检测工作地点的甲烷浓度和通风状况。
