and create rights for future generations.

A hundred years ago
在范德堡大学的毕业典礼上鲜有女性
there would have been few women here at the Vanderbilt commencement.
60年前
60 years ago,
毕业日的观众之中绝不会有非裔美国人
there would have been no african-american students in the senior day audience.
我们仍有很多需要改变的
There is still much to do,
但今日的成就要归功于那些有勇气的前辈
but it is thanks to the courageous people who"ve come before us
因为他们，我们才能有今天的权利
that we have the rights that we have today
现在学校里有勇气的学生们也不例外
including courageous students who have right here on this campus.

But when I look at the world today,

I see that courage is needed more than ever.

At a time when women all over the world face physical abuse,
