类比在逻辑中指一种根据比较不同事例的同异而就事例的相同或类似方面所进行的推理,即类比推理。例如,由两个有若干属性相同或类似的对象，已知一个对象有此外的某属性，进而断定另一对象也有某属性，即：对象A有属性P1,...,Pm,Pn,对象B有属性P1,...,Pm,所以,B有属性Pn（n大于m）。由于任何两个事物即使是同类也会有不同之处，因此从它们的已知诸方面的相同或类似，断定某一未知方面的相同或类似,并非必然。这种类比有时得到证实,有时则被推翻。所以，类比推理一般不能提供确实可靠的论据或前提。但是它在人的实践活动和思维过程中的重要性不容忽视，在分类、假设、发现、发明等科学理论和实践的发展过程中，类比的作用尤为明显。就类比和归纳都从具体事例出发而所得结果并非必然而言，它们在与演绎有区别这一方面是相同的。但仅就数量可能影响结论的确定程度而言，归纳主要在于已知事例的多少，而类比则主要在于有关事例的已知的相同或类似方面的多少。如果归纳的前提可被视为部分地是由多次类比构成的，则类比从属于归纳。类比和归纳的关系问题还没有公认的定论，有待于进一步深入探讨。在现代科学研究所广泛应用的模型方法中，模型和所模拟者之间的关系一般可以说是一种类比关系。因此，科学中的模型和类比问题已成为科学方法论研究中的一个重要课题。
