智能化建筑与智能化城市智能化建筑与智能化城作为现代标志的智能型建筑与智能化城市，其来势很猛，在国内以智能大厦命名的大型建筑物（含正在建设中的）有百余座之多，无论从何种意义上讲，建筑及城市的智能化已成为21世纪建筑发展的一个趋势，它标志着高新技术在现代建筑中的全面应用。智能建筑系统是建立在楼宇自动化系统基础之上的，具有完善的计算机系统及通讯网络。现代“信息高速公路”的到来更加为智能建筑系统发展提供了基础。全球第一座智能大厦建成于1984年，位于美国康涅狄格州哈福德市。1985年，位于日本东京的一座智能大厦也是相继落成。日本于1985年末成立了国家智能建筑专业委员会。英国、法国、加拿大、瑞典、德国在80年代末及90年代初都已落成富有自己特色的智能建筑。美国也宣称，1995年以后要大幅度增加智能型大楼的比例。位于美国华盛顿特区的智能化大厦研究机构把智能大厦定义为：通过对建筑物质结构、系统、服务、管理四个基本要素及它们的内在关联的最优化考虑，来提供一个投资合理，而又拥有高效率的舒适、便利的环境。在传统的大楼布线中，采用的传输媒介则是普通电话线、粗同轴电缆、屏蔽双绞线STP，保安监控设备也用同轴电缆，局域网既可使用双绞线也使用同轴电缆等等，而且各种不同设备使用的接插件及跳线架互不相同。由于传输媒介的多样化，各系统相互独立，互不兼容，这就造成了占用大量楼内竖井空间，并耗费大量精力进行不同布线系统工程的协调。而且如果电话机、终端设备要更换，或者大楼搬进了新的客户，必须重新进行布线，重新安装插座，从而造成大量人力、物力、财力的浪费。因此，美国ETA和TIA组织共同对智能大厦提出了一套规范化布线系统标准，这套标准主要是将所有语音、图像、消防、监控等布线组织在一套标准块的布线系统上，使建筑物中各种通信自动化（CA）、办公自动化（OA）和楼宇自动化（BA）、系统设备的连续线材接插件、跳线架使用统一标准、规格的产品，计算机线路、保安监控视像等无需重新拉线，只在配线间或主控机房的线路板上做对应的接口跳线转换即可。现在，国外智能建筑正朝着两个方面发展。其一，智能建筑已不再限于智能化办公楼，正向酒店、公寓、商场、地下工程甚至住宅扩展。其二，智能建筑由单体向区域性规划发展，从而导致90年代中后期“智能广场”、“智能小区”概念的完善及工程的实现。以电脑住宅为例，电脑系统可根据温湿及风力等情况自动调节窗户的开闭、空调器的关；若看电视，电话铃响了，则电视音量会自动降低；夜晚的立体声过大，房间的窗户会自动关闭以不扰民；若有陌生人进入房间，各种测控系统会发生特殊警告。丹麦未来研究所的研究报告设计出了4种明日家庭主人的梦想愿望，都体现出智能化思想。家庭市场是智能化建筑市场的基础，它具有无穷的发展潜力。如：家庭多样化的娱乐信息决定了对多媒体技术的依赖；家庭远程通讯更需要卫星办公室、联接许多卫星办公室的办公中心区等。1994年10月英国格拉斯哥举行的第二届欧洲智能化结构和材料学术研讨会上，最引人注目的议题就是利用智能系统建造有“感觉器官”的城市。科学家认为，如果在城市建筑、道路、桥梁及各种基础设施中埋入光纤、压电材料等做成的微细传感器，像神经一样分布其中，就能检测出它们在长期使用中或遭意外危险时，提早进行自修及防范加固。应看到中国已经具备发展智能化建筑的条件。如：在国家科委组织的《21世纪的住宅科技产业工程》的课题，已提出发展智能建筑的政策。智能化建筑不仅需要一种真正的自控文化，更需要产业建设，即应研究有利于“智能化”的环境平台，并使相关的信息技术镶嵌在建筑中，开展智能化研究，是促进支柱产业整体科技含量的基本措施，是向建筑科技制高点的攀登。
