指导学习有系统指导的按规定程序进行学习的一种学习方式。所谓规定程序，既包括程序化的教材，也包括教师对学生作出"程序化"的指导。在指导学习中也提倡积极主动的学习精神。美国心理学家R.M.加涅是指导学习法的积极倡导者。他主张要最大限度地指导学习者，并仔细地编排学习任务的程序。他的指导学习法是以程序原则为依据的。程序原则是他的累积学习思想和任务分析法相结合的产物。加涅认为，人类的学习复杂而多样。简单的学习如刺激－反应学习是低级的、基本的，复杂的学习如原理的学习与问题的解决是高级的、抽象的，后者要以前者为基础。在累积学习的模式中 (图1)，学习的每一后继形式实质上是前一形式更复杂的表现。加涅根据累积学习的思想，致力于教学改革，提出程序原则。他强调设计程序必须采取任务分析法。例如，要求学生解决物理学中的一个问题，就应该分析所需要的原理或规则、组成原理或规则的概念，以及某些更简单、更基本的知识和技能。把每一步骤都记录下来，编排成序列。如图2所示,处于最高层的字母代表最终要完成的任务。而完成这种任务需要具备由第2层或第3层字母所代表的较简单任务的能力。要使学生最终解决问题，就需要培养他们完成这些较简单任务的知识与技能。指导学习能够增进学习的效率,有助于达到学科内容的有效学习和解题技能的不断改进这两个相互联系的重要教学目标。在许多学习任务中，指导学习对多数学生来说有一定的作用，然而这种方法的必要性，是随着所学知识或技能的复杂性与新颖性而变化的，也是随着个人的经验与自学能力而变化的。指导学习有它的局限性。有些心理学家提出，在课堂学习中更多地采用集中综合指导学习与发现学习两者优点的指导发现学习，也许更为合适。参考书目R.M.Gagné,The Conditions of Learning,2nd ed.,Holt,Rinehart and Winston, New York,1970.R.M.
