数学教学法研究数学教学的原理和方法，分科教学法之一。在中国,数学教学法随着师范教育的兴起而产生、形成和发展。 1904年 1月 13日，清政府颁布的《奏定初级师范学堂章程》中规定：在算学教学中兼教算术及几何代数之次序方法。同年颁布的《奏定优级师范学堂章程》，把包括算学教授法在内的各科教授法列为必修课。辛亥革命后，随着师范教育的发展，数学教学法形成为独立的学科。中华人民共和国成立后，在高等师范院校数学系科里，普遍设有数学教学法课程，并编写了一些教材。数学教学法的内容一般包括：教学的目的和任务、教学内容和教材体系、教学过程和教学原则、教学方法和教学手段，教学的组织，教学质量的检查和评价、数学的课外活动和数学竞赛、数学教学的研究设计等。同时，也包括研究数学的有关分支学科的教材和教学方法。20世纪50年代末60年代初期，在现代科学技术突飞猛进、教学方法和计算机广泛应用的情况下，掀起了一个以数学教学现代化为中心的国际性的数学课程改革运动，并在广泛的范围内开展了研究和实验工作，国际上称之为数学教育研究。与此同时，出现了一批数学教育的研究组织，出版了一些数学教育研究杂志。在这种情况下，数学教学法得到了进一步发展和充实。在这个研究领域里，引起普遍注意的课题有 3个互相联系的方面：①对课程、方法和物质条件的研究。例如为达到数学教学的最佳效果，应如何创造合适的体系；怎样使数学内容现代化；怎样进行几何教学；如何通过使用计算器和计算机来增进学生对数学的理解，提高学习效果等。②对学习和学习者的研究。要建立数学学习的理论；研究人怎样学习数学，以及学习数学的过程等。③对教学和教师的研究。主要是建立数学教学理论，研究怎样教人学习数学，怎样在教学过程中不断培养和提高学生的理解和思考能力；如何培养学生的智力和对数学的敏捷反应，如何培养学生学习数学的正确态度和学风等。数学教学法目前较多是研究中小学数学教学法，高等学校数学教学法的研究还处于开创阶段。数学教学法既是一门理论学科，又是一门实践性很强的学科。它的研究方法一般有两种：①总结行之有效的先进的数学教学经验，上升到理论高度，而后用于指导数学教学实践。②针对目前仍存在的问题，开展调查研究，设计解决问题的最佳具体方案，进行典型试验，再总结经验逐步推广，最后上升到理论。参考书目北京师范大学等十三院校协编组:《中学数学教学法》,人民教育出版社，北京，1980。
