核电子学仪器与辐射探测器相配合用于对粒子或辐射进行测量的电子仪器。对核电子学仪器不但要求本身具有良好的性能指标，还需要考虑如何最合理地将电子线路与辐射探测器组合，以求获得最佳的探测性能。核电子学仪器可以是由简单电路组成的单件式仪器；也可以是由大量电子仪器组合的复杂的测量系统。它的基本组成部分一般包括探测器的供电电源、对探测器输出信号进行放大和处理的放大器、成形电路和各种脉冲变换电路等。最后，还需要由记录、显示或分析电路给出测量结果。各种基于计算机的核电子学仪器系统，还具有数据自动获取和处理、事例判选、图形重建或驱动执行机构自动调整和控制等功能。核电子学仪器的发展过程与辐射探测器的发展密切相关。最早期的核电子学仪器就是盖革计数管，后随之出现与其配合的各种计数电路，并应用于测量辐射强度。正比计数管具有一定的能量分辨本领，但输出信号较小并与电源电压有关，因而又出现了稳定度较高的高压电源、线性脉冲放大器和单道脉冲幅度分析器等，用于核能谱测量。为了配合以碘化钠（铊）闪烁体为主的闪烁计数器和闪烁谱仪，对高压稳定电源又提出了更高的要求，并研究出多道脉冲幅度分析器技术。各种具有快响应时间的有机闪烁体的发展，则带动了组成快中子飞行时间谱仪的一系列快电子学线路技术。具有高能量分辨本领的半导体探测器，要求与能谱测量有关的核电子学仪器在性能上有更大的改进。一些新型探测器，如各种具有成像性能和能同时提供多种核信息的复合型探测器的发展，如果没有基于计算机的在线数据获取与处理系统与之配合，也是不可能实现的。在电子管时期，核电子学仪器只能采用庞大的单件式结构。而在电子管为晶体管取代以后，核电子学仪器才逐步发展成为积木式结构，并产生了国际公认的核仪器插件(NIM)标准（见核电子仪器标准化）,统一供电标准,统一结构尺寸，统一输入、输出信号电平标准等,为使用带来很大方便。随着计算机技术在核电子学仪器中的广泛应用和电路的集成化，又产生了计算机自动测量和控制(CAMAC)标准插件,后又出现快总线标准。而微电子技术的发展又促进了核电子学仪器的微型化和大规模集成化。核电子学仪器的功能大致有核能谱测量、辐射强度测量、粒子识别技术和高能粒子探测（见高能粒子实验装置）等几个方面。特别是前两种测量技术已广泛用于其他学科领域的研究和国民经济有关方面。
