袁术袁术（？～199）中国东汉末军阀。字公路。汝南汝阳（今河南周口西南）人，袁绍从弟。自曾祖父起4世中有5人位居三公。举孝廉，除郎中，累迁至虎贲中郎将、后将军。避董卓之祸，由京师洛阳出奔南阳，割据其地。南阳户口数百万，手工业、商业较发达，袁术征敛无度，百姓苦之。他对袁绍充当关东牧守的盟主很不服气，远交幽州公孙瓒，而袁绍也联络荆州牧刘表以牵制袁术。初平四年（193），袁术进军陈留，与曹操交战正酣，刘表从襄阳进逼其根据地南阳，袁术被曹操击败，向襄邑（今河南睢县西）、宁陵（今河南宁陵东南）一带退却。退至扬州九江郡，赶走刺史陈瑀，自领其州，以寿春为根据地，称帝。称帝后先为吕布所破，后为曹操所败。在其统治下，士卒冻馁，江淮间空尽，人民相食。四年，袁术资实耗尽，众叛亲离，想前往青州投靠袁绍长子袁谭，又怕曹操邀击，愤惭呕血而死。
