放电时延气体间隙击穿过程所需要的时间。气体间隙击穿过程可分为两个基本阶段,一是间隙中出现有效的足以引起碰撞电离的触发电子,二是触发电子在电场作用下通过带电粒子碰撞电离、光电离等不同机制使放电通道发展,最终导致使间隙全部击穿。在间隙击穿的外部条件均已实现后,完成这两个阶段的击穿过程需要一段时间,这就是放电时延,以td表示,td=td+tf。式中td是在外施电压作用下出现有效的触发电子所需要的时间,称为统计时延。tf是出现触发电子后,放电通道发展直至贯穿整个间隙而完成击穿所需要的时间,称为形成时延。对于较短的间隙,形成时延较小,放电时延主要是统计时延。当气体间隙较长时,形成时延在放电时延中占主要地位。对缓慢上升的外施电压,在放电时延阶段电压继续上升的程度不明显,因而觉察不出它对放电电压的影响,间隙的击穿电压就是一个不随时间变化的数值,通常称为静态击穿电压。对随时间变化剧烈的外施电压(如雷电冲击波电压),在放电时延阶段电压仍继续变化,此时该间隙的击穿电压将不同于静态击穿电压,而必须联系到放电时延的影响。例如,某一间隙的静态击穿电压为5×104伏,放电时延10-6秒,如果电压上升的平均陡度是107伏/秒,在放电时延阶段电压会继续上升107×10-6=10伏,与5×104伏相比是微不足道的,但如果电压上升陡度是1010伏/秒,在放电时延阶段电压将会继续上升104伏,这就不可忽略了。由于存在放电时延,间隙击穿特性需要用电压与时间两个参量加以描述,它是在电压-时间坐标平面上形成的曲线,通常称为伏秒(时)特性曲线。无论统计时延还是形成时延都受多种因素的影响,具有统计分散性,因此,气体间隙的伏秒特性曲线实际是一带状的区域。研究放电时延对于分析气体间隙的击穿机制,改善间隙的冲击电压击穿特性,合理实现绝缘配合等都具有重要意义。
