赣江赣江中国长江中游主要支流之一，江西省最大河流。东源贡水为正源，出武夷山黄竹岭，由绵水和湘水汇合而成。西源章水出大庾岭。章、贡两水在赣州市汇合后始称赣江。曲折北流，经吉安市、樟树市、丰城市到南昌市，分四条支流注入鄱阳湖。全长991千米，其中干流长751千米，流域面积8.35万平方千米。赣州以上为上游，山地纵横，支流众多，主要有湘水、濂江、梅江、平江、桃江、上犹江等，分别汇入章水和贡水。赣州至新干为中游，由于河流切割遂犹山地，多峡谷和险滩急流；万安以下，河流进入吉泰盆地，河面渐宽，水势和缓，东西两岸有孤江、遂川江、蜀水、禾水、泷水等较大支流汇入，水量大增；吉水到新干段，切穿武功山余脉，形成一较长的峡谷带。新干以下为下游，山势渐退，江面逐渐开阔，水流平缓。有袁水和绵河汇入。流域气候温和，雨量充足，年均降水量1400～1800毫米。多年平均年径流量687亿立方米。水能蕴藏量360万千瓦。干流上可常年通行100～300吨的轮驳船队和客船。
