名实名实中国古代哲学的一对范畴。名，指名词、概念、称谓、名义；实，指实际存在的事物。中国古代各派哲学家对名实关系的理解不同，进行了长期的争论，推动中国哲学的认识论和逻辑学的发展。春秋末期，面对社会变动，“名实相怨”的现象，孔子提出“正名”的主张，试图依周礼的有关等级名分去匡正变化了的社会现实。在中国哲学史上第一次讨论了名实关系的问题，提出了名与实应相符的观点。其后。墨子提出“非以其名也，以其取也”，认为真正的知识不在于知其名，而在于知其实。及至战国时，出现了专门研究名实问题的名家，他们第一次从认识论和逻辑学的角度讨论了名实关系问题。齐国稷下学派提出“物固有形，形固有名”，应“循名而督实，按实而定名”的观点。惠施主张“合同异”，在考察名实关系时强调甚至夸大名的相对性，得出“天与地卑，山与泽平”的相对主义结论。公孙龙则强调概念间的差异性，主张“离坚白”，得出“白马非马”的结论。后期墨家在讨论名实关系中坚持“以名举实”的观点，区分了“达”、“类”、“私”等三类概念，在中国古代逻辑史上占有重要地位。战国末期，荀子对名实之辩进行了总结，他提出“制名以指实”的原则，将概念区分为“共名”、“别名”、“大共名”、“大别名”等，揭露了当时出现的“用名以乱名”、“用实以乱名”、“用名以乱实”的逻辑错误，坚持了朴素唯物主义的反映论。秦汉以后，名实之辩仍为哲学争论的一个重要问题，并由一般认识论引申到哲学方法论领域。
