全国地质资料馆中国地质矿产部所属的部门档案馆。1952年成立,馆址北京阜成门外北街。负责收集、整理、保管中华人民共和国成立前散存各地的地质档案和资料，中华人民共和国成立后地质矿产部和省、自治区、直辖市地矿局及中央和地方各有关工业部门、科研部门、院校等编写的地质报告等地质档案、资料，并提供利用。馆藏档案资料截至1990年底,7.5万多种(份) ,其中1949年前的近万种(份)，排架总长度6000多米。内有各种比例尺的区域地质调查报告，固体矿产地质普查、详查、勘探报告，石油地质报告，海洋地质报告，地球物理化学勘探报告，遥感地质报告，水文地质和工程地质报告，环境地质报告，地震地质报告，第四纪地质报告，还有地质科学研究成果及地质、矿产综合研究成果资料等。还保存有地质学家李四光、翁文灏、谢家荣、黄汲清、尹赞勋、程裕淇、张文佑、谭锡畴、李春煜等人的著述等。馆内下设收集整理、检索、库房借阅等机构，库房面积3500平方米,现有工作人员25人,其中高级技术职称者2人，中级技术职称者8人。该馆建立了以《全国地质资料汇交管理办法》为核心的地质资料收集验收、整理登记、密级划分、保管和借阅等一系列规章制度，按地区、矿种、不同专业建立了三套检索卡 片，供借阅 者从不同角度查寻所需资料。1985年起应用微型计算机进行地质资料目录存储、检索、编目、制卡和统计分析。馆内阅览大厅有120个座位,并提供复印等服务项目。馆藏档案资料对全社会开放，只要符合手续均可借阅。1986～1990年共接待借阅者25210人次,提供档案资料69792份次。有不少矿山利用地质档案挖掘了矿山潜力，许多地质勘察单位利用档案避免了重复工作，找到了一些大矿。该馆自1983年起编印每季度入库档案资料目录,发送150多个有关单位，及时提供资料信息。
