《科学的文化理论》英国功能学派人类学创始人B.K.马利诺夫斯基所写的民族学理论著作。初稿于20世纪30年代后期完成，后经修改，于1944年由美国北卡罗来纳大学出版。中文版系费孝通等根据马利诺夫斯基该文初稿翻译，以《文化论》为书名，由商务印书馆于1944年出版。作者在这部著作中比较系统地阐述了他的功能主义理论，对进化学派、历史学派和传播学派的观点都持反对态度，自称功能主义理论是最科学的。他主张把诸如经济、法律、教育、科学、巫术、宗教等人类的文化方面同人类的生物需要(包括派生的和综合的生物需要)联系起来，进行功能分析，认为这种方法能给实地工作者提供导游图，使他们能对各种文化现象作出满意的解答。最后，他还鼓吹功能主义为人类学家鉴别文化提供了唯一的有效准绳。马利诺夫斯基在本书中所阐述的功能主义理论，对英、美人类学界产生过重大影响，目前这种影响还继续存在，但已不如第二次世界大战以前那样大了。随着时代的发展和科学的进步，越来越多的西方人类学家已认识到它的局限性。
