氧化铁氧化亚铁、三氧化二铁和磁性氧化铁的统称。氧化亚铁 又称一氧化铁。化学式 FeO。黑色粉末;熔点 1369±1°C,相对密度 5.7;不溶于水、醇和碱液,溶于酸;很不稳定,易氧化成三氧化二铁。在隔绝空气的条件下加热二价铁的化合物,如草酸亚铁等可制得氧化亚铁,或通氢于三氧化二铁也可制得。氧化亚铁主要用作玻璃中的色料。三氧化二铁 化学式Fe2O3。红棕色或黑色无定形粉末;熔点 1565°C,相对密度 5.24;不溶于水,溶于酸。在空气中灼烧亚铁化合物或氢氧化铁等可得三氧化二铁。其红棕色粉末为一种低级颜料,工业上称氧化铁红,用于油漆、油墨、橡胶等工业中,也可做催化剂和玻璃、宝石、金属的抛光剂。磁性氧化铁 又称四氧化三铁,化学式Fe3O4。为天然磁铁矿(即磁石)的主要成分;黑色或红棕色粉末;熔点1594±5°C,相对密度 5.18;不溶于水、乙醇、乙醚,易溶于浓酸。它在潮湿状态下,在空气中易氧化成三氧化二铁。通水蒸气于红热的铁即可制得磁性氧化铁。它可做颜料和抛光剂。特制的磁性氧化铁可做录音磁带和电信器材。
