常识常识commonsenseehangshi常识(con”的旧nsen能)指人类社会中经过长期验证使用，众所周知、不言自明的知识。从人与自然的关系来说，常识应是那些经过人类社会千百年实践检验固定下来的，对于大多数情况而言正确地反映了对客观世界规律的认识。常识有可能有例外，但在没有迹象表明当前情况属于例外时，按常识处理，一般应是合理的、正确的。从人与人的关系来说，常识应是一种公共性的、约定性的知识，一种由于其“众所周知”而无需在每次交往中显式申明的知识。因此，常识使人际交往更简便、经济。为了使人与计算机的交互尽可能地像人际交往一样简便、经济，为了使计算机求解问题的知识环境更有利于问题的求解，必须考虑使计算机具有常识，包括常识内容和常识机制。这方面的研究构成人工智能理论研究的一个重要方向—常识推理。常识推理的研究始于70年代末。对数据库和逻辑程序的语义研究揭示了所谓“封闭世界假设”(CWA)。一些学者通过分析CWA确立了一类常识推理手段—非单调推理。其代表人物有Me-。川hy，Reiter，Mc】尧rn刀tt等。其中McC石rt饰在倡导常识推理和常识研究方面起了关键的作用。常识内容由于其“自明”性，一般都是隐含的，往往只有在具体建造知识系统的过程中，在人和计算机的强烈对比下才意识到它的存在。比如说，只有在计算机关于“绳子”的推理犯了一个毫无道理的错误时，我们才意识到原来计算机需要知道“绳子只能拉，不能推”。把最起码的常识装进计算机并使之发挥作用，是一项巨大复杂的系统工程。例如美国MCC公司的CYC工程，Stanford大学的“How things卿rk，，工程等。常识机制的研究是人工智能中困难的、也是最具理论挑战性的课题之一。常识一般是有例外的，而例外情形成立与否一般需要通过推理来确认。常识机制的核心问题是在有例外、含矛盾以及知识不充分的情况下产生合情理的结论。例如，“鸟会飞”，“企鹅是鸟”，“企鹅不会飞”是三件公认的“常识”。它们放到一块儿是不协调的，但在实际的推理过程中，它们都被当作常识使用，只不过推出来的结论强弱不同。遇到矛盾时，“弱”的要服从“强”的。关于常识机制的研究，典型的代表是各种非单调逻辑、次协调逻辑以及各种真值(理由)维护系统，还有面向情境、变化和动作的各种推理系统。目前，常识主要是用逻辑公式表示。
