中国中医研究院图书情报研究所中国中医药专业文献情报机构。前身中国中医研究院图书情报中心，是1983年 5月由原中医研究院图书馆(成立于1955年12月)、情报研究室、中医古籍出版社合并而成的。1986年改今名。该所是全国中医药图书情报工作委员会主任单位，也是世界卫生组织所属传统医学情报中心。其职责是：联系和组织全国中医药专业图书馆和情报机构的业务协作；收集、整理和提供国内外中医药信息，为科研、教学和临床提供广泛的信息服务和文献服务；培养中医药图书情报硕士研究生，整理和出版中医古籍。该所设有情报研究室、文献检索研究室、中医典籍研究室、《中国医学文摘》(中医)编辑部、《国外医学》(中医中药分册)编辑部、中医古籍编辑部、采编室、书刊流通室、期刊资料室、声像资料室、出版部、发行部等15个业务部门以及其他 5个职能处。1990年底该研究所共有工作人员162人，其中专业人员124人，具有高级技术职称者27人。图书馆1990年底有馆藏图书32万册，其中中医古籍6万多册(包括珍善本医书2万余册,为中国收藏中医古籍善本最丰富的单位)；收集有国内外医学期刊 2000余种，其中中国版中医期刊 230多种，外文版中医期刊70余种。该馆组织编辑的《全国中医图书联合目录》收录了全国113个大型图书馆所藏1949年前出版的中医图书12124种。此外还组织 23 个中医图书情报单位共同编辑了《中国科技期刊中医药文献索引(1949～1986)》，收录了1949年以来出版的 470种科技期刊中发表的中医药文献13万余篇。该所广泛收集国内外中医药科技信息，开展专题情报和战略情报研究，为领导决策、对外交流、课题招标、成果鉴定、临床医疗、学科建设等提供情报服务。1960年起创办《中国医学文摘》(中医)(原名《中医文摘》)，对全国 140多种期刊的中医文献进行文摘报道。1978年创刊的《国外医学》(中医中药分册)以综述、文摘、全文翻译等形式报道世界各国生物医学刊物上发表的中医药学文献。此外该所还编印了《中医药参考资料》、《中医药动态》、《艾滋病参考资料》、《中医药快报》、《中医中西医结合妇产科情报资料》 等内部刊物。 该所于80年代初开始进行电子计算机中医文献检索系统的研制。1982年编成的《中医药学主题词表》已被生物医学部门广泛采用。该所建立的"国内外针灸针麻经络文献分析检索系统"数据库有中、英文两个文本，存储了中、英、德、法、日等 10个文种500多种生物医学刊物所发表的针灸、针麻、经络方面的文献,已向国内外提供服务。1990年建立的"中医药学文献检索系统"数据库收录了1984年以来国内公开出版的 300多种生物医学刊物上有关中医、中药、针灸、气功、按摩和养生等内容的文献,1990年底已存储 6万多篇文献，此外，该所还建立了中医药的报刊新闻库和组织机构知名学者库。 由该所在国家中医药管理局的支持下牵头组织的全国中医药图书情报工作委员会，是一个中医药图书情报协作网，下设办公室和4个专业分委员会，在全国6个地区设有地区性工作委员会，出版有《中医药图书情报》双月刊。中医研究院图书情报研究所所属的中医古籍出版社是一家以影印中医古籍为主要任务、同时也出版现代中医著作的专业出版机构。曾出版 《珍本医籍丛刊》、《中医养生丛书》、《中医珍本丛书》、《四库全书医家类》等系列丛书,80年代末,每年的出书量达100余种。(见彩图)
