意思相近的主动的动词不定式和被动的动词不定式
1.义务的概念有时可以用一个名词之后的动词不定式来表达。
Ive got letters to write.我有几封信要写。
These carpets are to be cleanedas soon as possible.这些地毯要尽早洗。
如果句子的主语是做那个动作的人，就用主动的动词不定式。
I have work to do.我有工作要做。(不能说："1 have work to be done.)
如果句子的主语是要做的动作(或是接受动作的人或事物)，就用被动的动词不定式。
These sheets are to be washed.这些床单要洗一洗。(不能说：*These sheets are to wash.)
This form is to be filled inin ink.这张表格要用墨水填写。(不能说: *This form is to fill in.)
The cleaning is to be finishedby mid-day.要在中午以前打扫完毕。(不能说：*… to finish)
2.在某些结构中(例如，在 there is之后)，可以用主动的也可以用被动的动词不定式，而意思相似。假如我们更多地考虑做动作的人而较少地考虑动作本身，就用主动的动词不定式。
There s a lot of work to do/ to be done.有许多工作要做。
There are six letters to write/ to be writtentoday.今天要写六封信。
Give me the names of the people to contact/ to be contacted. 把要联系的人的名字告诉我。
我们通常说一所房屋出租是 to let，但说 to be let也是可以的。
3.被动的动词不定式 to be seen， to be found，和 to be congratulated常用于be之后。
He wasnowhere to be seen.哪里也找不着他。
You are to be congratulated.应该向你祝贺。
The dog wasnowhere to be found.这条狗，哪儿也找不到。
4.请注意 something/ anything/ nothing to do和 something/anything/ nothing to be done之间的区别。
Theres nothing to do— Im bored。无事可干——我感到闷得慌。(= There are no entertainments.—没有娱乐活动。)
Theres nothing to be done—well have to buy another one. 没有办法，一一我们只得另买一个。(=Theres no way of putting it right.—没办法把它修理(或整理)好了。)
5.to blame常用于被动的意义(意思是：为发生的某种坏事承担责任)。
Nobody was to blamefor the accident.这个事故，谁也不能责怪。
