“当时的演讲主题是Mirror and I，我一上场看到台上正好有个镜子，于是第一句就现场发挥了一下。”身穿根据主题特意定制的旗袍，刘欣一上场就用机智打动了评委，牢牢地抓住了他们的目光。
演讲全文如下：
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I think this is a perfect setting for my speech today, because we have a mirror right here. And this is the topic, the mirror and I.
女士们，先生们，下午好。我认为这是我今天演讲的完美场景，因为我们刚好有面镜子在这里，而我演讲的题目是《镜子和我》。
I like to look into the mirror. When I was a little girl, I often stood on my toes, trying to find my face in the mirror of the dressing table which was nearly as high as I was. Now I still like to look into the mirror. When I looked at it, I found the face of a young woman glowing with maturity confident in her future, and still fascinated with her own reflection.
我喜欢照镜子。当我还是个小女孩的时候，我常常踮起脚尖，努力想从跟我差不多高的梳妆台的镜子里看到自己的脸。现在我仍然喜欢照镜子。当我看着镜子的时候，我看到一张年轻女人的脸庞充满着成熟和自信，镜中的身影让人十分着迷。
The fact like to look into the mirror has to do with my granny with whom I spent most of my childhood. I remember clearly that one night, I heard her murmuring “women can’t be seen, women can’t be seen”.I was so confused as I looked into the mirror the next morning to check if Icould indeed see myself. Only now as a young woman myself can I understand it was not physical visibility that granny had in her mind.
我喜欢照镜子这件事和我的奶奶有关，我的大部分童年时光都和奶奶一起度过。我清楚地记得有一天晚上，我听到她小声嘀咕“女人是隐形的，女人是隐形的。”我感到很困惑，第二天早上我去照镜子,想确认一下我到底能不能看到自己。但直到今天我成为一名年轻女性后我才明白，奶奶心里想的并不是现实中的身影。
Granny spent all her life taking care ofthe family, day-in and day-out. She cooked for her husband and ten children. She and other female family members had to eat by the stove in the small kitchen. At family discussions, she was never asked for her opinion. When grandpa passed away, she had to listen to my uncle her elder son who became master of the house.
奶奶一辈子都在照顾家庭，日复一日。她要给丈夫和十个孩子做饭，她和家里的其他女眷得在厨房的炉子边吃饭。在家庭讨论中，从来没有人问过她的看法。爷爷去世后，她的长子成为一家之主，她凡事都需要听从我大伯也就是她的长子的安排。
Through years of toil, she fulfilled herduty as daughter, wife and mother. Yet as a person, she remained little noticed.If she had seen herself in the mirror of the dressing table, she was never visiblein the mirror of society.
通过多年的艰苦劳作，她尽到了作为女儿、妻子以及母亲的责任。但作为一个人,她很少被注意到。如果说她能从梳妆镜中看到她自己的话，她在社会的镜子中却从来都是隐形的。
I have been living a different life. At home, I made decisions together with the rest of the family. In school, I take charge of various activities the same as other boys and girls. Not only that, I can see something granny could not have dreamed of, making decisions for my own future.
而我的生活截然不同。在家里，我和家里的其他人一起做决定。在学校里，我主持各种各样的活动，我和其他男生、女生没有什么不同。不止这样，我还能做我奶奶想都没想过的事，我决定我自己的未来。
I could choose from several competitive universities as I came out of high school. At university, I could choose from arange of subject, changing from English literature to business law. And now upon graduation, I’m again faced with series of decisions. To further my study or to go to work? To stay in China or to go abroad? To get married right away, or to remain single for a bit longer?
当我高中毕业的时候，有好几所极具竞争力的大学供我选择。在大学，从英语文学到商业法，有不同的专业供我选择。现在我临近毕业，我再一次面临多重选择。是继续求学还是投身工作？是留在国内还是到国外去？是马上结婚，还是再单身一段时间？
It does not matter whether or not I will become famous or rich, but I will treasure the chance to demonstrate my potentials into help other women demonstrate theirs as full member of the society fully visible in the mirror of history. I will treasure it because the abundance of my choice that I enjoy can only after decades of efforts made bymy granny, my mom, and millions of other Chinese women.
我是否会变得著名或者富有都不重要，但我珍惜这个机会，帮助其他女性显示他们作为社会成员的潜力，让他们在历史之境中是可见的。我珍惜这一点，因为我所享受的广阔的选择余地，是我的奶奶、我的妈妈以及千千万万中国女性几十年努力的结果。
However, the choice to be made by me and the others of my generation is a great challenge. The misconception that menare superior to women is still dominating many people’s mind. While remaining courage to compete until certain themselves, we are expected to be quiet, loyaland obedient. This is not very different from what is expected of us as good wife and good mothers.
然而，我和我的同辈所作的选择是个很大挑战，男性优于女性的错误想法，仍然在很多人心中占据主导地位。在保持勇气去竞争直到获得肯定的同时，大家希望我们是安静的，忠诚的，服从的，这和希望我们是好妻子和好母亲没什么区别。
The story of my grandmother and myself mirrorsthe lives of millions of other women in China and perhaps in the world. Many of them still live the life of my grandmother, their worth is not yet recognized. It is then the responsibility of a young woman like me to study hard and work hard, so the two will see themselves and we’ll be seen in the mirror of thesociety.
我和我奶奶的故事反映了千千万万中国女性乃至世界女性的人生，他们中很多人仍然过着我奶奶的生活，还没有人意识到他们的价值。像我这样的年轻女性有责任努力学习和工作，这样他们可以看到彼此，我们也将会在社会的镜子中被看到。
This is my dream. This dream I believe isnot only shared by many of our grandmothers, mothers and sisters, but also bymany of our fathers, brothers, husbands and male colleagues. It will not cometrue until everyone fully realizes that women can contribute to the society and should be guaranteed the right to.
这是我的梦想。我相信这个梦想不仅仅属于我们的奶奶、母亲以及姐妹，也是很多我们的父亲、兄弟、丈夫以及男性同事的梦想。只有当每个人都充分意识到女性可以为社会做出贡献，并且有权这么做，这一切才会成为现实。
