经常有老外学中文的时候,经常有疑问,为什么是一个人、一头牛、一只羊、一块钱。有些字天生就是和另外一些字搭配在一起,中文这样,英文也是。
像「写会议纪录」用take meeting minutes,注意是用take,不是write;「开支票」,是write a check,不是open a check。
这种搭配英文叫collocation,就字义来说就是co(一起)+location(位置),放在一起的两个字。今天要谈的是商业英文几组惯用的搭配,错误的搭配不见得就是文法错误,但搭对了,就会有自然流畅的专业。

正确:Thank you for BRING this to our ATTENTION.
2. 我写信想表达我对于我对此事的不满。
错误:I’m writing to show my dissatisfaction regarding this issue.
正确:I’m writing to EXPRESS my DISSATISFACTION regarding this issue.
3. 如果你需要进一步协助,请让我知道。
错误:Please let me know if you require extra assistance.
正确:Please let me know if you require FURTHER/ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE.
4. 只是提醒一下,原定明天的会议延到下周三的11点。
错误:Just a kindly reminder that tomorrow’s meeting has been postponed until next Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
正确:Just a FRIENDLY REMINDER that tomorrow’s meeting has been postponed until next Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
5. 多年来你一直是我们的忠实客户,我们决定不收取延迟费用。
错误:As you have been a faithful customer for years, we’ve decided to waive the late fee.
正确:As you have been a LOYAL CUSTOMER for years, we’ve decided to waive the late fee.
6. 我前一封信忘记提到,我下星期将不在办公室。
错误:In my former email, I forgot to mention that I will be out of the office next week.
正确:In my PREVIOUS EMAIL, I forgot to mention that I will be out of the office next week.
7. 谢谢你迅速回复,如有评论或建议,我将不胜感激。
错误:Thank you for your fast response.
正确:Thank you for your PROMPT RESPONSE.
8. 我们的营业时间从早上八点到晚上九点,周一到周六。
错误:Our hours of work are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
正确:Our HOURS OF OPERATION are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
9. 明天是法定假日,我们店不营业。
错误:The store is shut tomorrow in observance of a national holiday.
正确:The STORE IS CLOSED tomorrow in observance of a national holiday.
10. 我们很遗憾通知您的的申请未获得批准。
错误:We regret to notify you that your application has been denied.
正确:We REGRET TO INFORM you that your application has been denied.
固定搭配看起来不好学,但也正因为固定、没有变化,所以才好记,贴在笔记上多看几次就学起来了。
